Do I need a title?
Yes, we cannot accept your donation without a clear title. One that is free of all liens. If you have lost your title and need to order a duplicate please call us we’ll help you get a new one! If the title is registered in two names, both must appear in title signature area as the sellers. Please make sure that you sign the title over to your designated charity in the buyer section on the back of your title.
How should I prepare my vehicle for pick up and when should I expect the tow company to arrive?
Most vehicles are picked up with 2-3 days after we have received and processed all of your information. One of our vendors will contact you to arrange a time and place to pick up your donation. Make sure you remove your plates, registration and all personal possessions before they arrive, and have the vehicle parked in a location that is accessible for the tow truck. All four tires must be inflated and the vehicle should be intact with no missing parts.
Please remember that if a vehicle is left in a no parking zone or in an area that one of our vendors can not safely retrieve the vehicle it will not be picked up. Our charity partners will not be responsible for any charges that have accrued on impounded vehicles.
What geographic area do you service?
Anywhere in the United States, including Hawaii and Alaska.
What happens to my vehicle after it’s been donated?
Evaluating your vehicle to determine how we can make the most money for our charity partners is the most important part of this program. After our team of four research your donation for nationwide comparables we will set a monetary goal for each and every donation. Photos will be taken on better cars and titles are scanned and reviewed for accuracy. Vehicles will be sent to one of our licensed insured and bonded auction partners, wholesalers, or recyclers to be sold.
Will you leave me a receipt?
Yes, one will be left for you at the time of pickup, a second one will arrive after the vehicle has arrived at the auction, and a third will be sent with your 1098-c form should the vehicle sell for over $500. Your gift is important to us and should be acknowledged in keeping with the guidelines established by the IRS.
How much can I deduct from my taxes?
You are allowed to deduct the fair market value up to $500 or the actual amount the vehicle sells for over that amount. The value of your donation over $500 is determined by the gross proceeds of the sale.
You will receive an IRS compliant acknowledgment letter from us after your vehicle has been picked up. Then within 30 days of the date of the sale you will receive IRS form 1098-C if you vehicle sells for over $500. Copies B & C will contain all the information you will need for your deduction.
